Director John Maybury agreed to Adrien Brody's request to keep him locked in a mourge like body drawer (like being burried alive) even when they weren't filming so he could get the feel of the character's despair. Eventually the kind of traumatised horror and desperation his character would have felt being locked away in a drawer for all that time overcame Brody for real, Brodys crying and desperate please to be allowed out where caught on camera and are included in the film.
